One Month Until Registration!

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year opens Monday, March 17th! Registration will initially be open for 5 days and is accessible through a Google Form. The Google form will be posted on our social media and website on 3/17. Please see our Registration page for details!

At this time, we are waiting for the snow to melt so we can get our wetland assessment completed. We did one through a private company this summer, but East Lansing wants to do their own. This will confirm if our building affects the wetlands. After the assessment, we may need to provide public notice and a meeting to discuss the wetland impact. We are confident our construction and use will not be harmful to the wetlands, but the process still needs to be followed. We also learned a traffic study must be completed and we are moving forward with a firm. Results should be available by the end of the month. We are very thankful that our building does not require approval by the Planning Commission or City Council. However, obtaining a building permit is still a long and slow process with approvals needed from several city and county departments.

On a more positive note, I was able to meet with my Design-Build team, Wolgast Corporation, to discuss budgeting, permitting, and the construction process. We are getting ready to pick all the finishes and details so everything can be ordered. Then once the permits are set, the construction itself will be straightforward! Wolgast was the building company for Chippewa Nature Education Center—a beautiful space for preschool and school age children that I was able to tour. Seeing all the progress there made me even more confident they are the right team for making Magic of Play Preschool come to life.
